The book is a great depiction of authors command in creating emotions in the story such as doom, fear, and guilt. The story center on Roderick who is ill and his ailment ignite his agitated senses. Though the illness is physical but it is having a significant impact on his mind and senses.
He is basically sick because he hopes to be sick considering his family’s history of ill health. Similarly, he buries his sister alive after creating a self-fulfilling prophecy and believing in it. The house of Usher has a significant role in the book and it represents the actual structure and the family. It is skillfully depicted as a human who meets its end along with two Usher siblings.
